The New Age 40's

Hey all you shoe-aholics! Today's focus is something I've seen a lot within fashion. Today many designers are taking the old and turning it into the new. By this I mean, I've notices the 40's being the era of replication. Possibly because its style and grace is whats exuded throughout numerous designers designs. Gavin Douglas a famous UK designer is one who is truly inspired by the glamorous 40's. In his clothing and my main focus his lovely SHOES! Take a look at how some of these 40's styles such as the peep toe or the laced up vamp is taken to a whole new level.

With an array of color combinations, no wonder this guy is so talented.

Overall Gavin Douglas takes the old and revamps it to the new. In my opinion he's definitely next in line to officially blow up in the US fashion market.
Until next time SHOE-AHOLICS.

THE NEXT BIG THING!

Heeyyyy all you shoe-aholics! It's been a while, I know, but I'm back and ready to hit you with something so out of this world you won't believe they are shoes. Today I want to introduce you to one of my new and major inspirations, NICHOLAS KIRKWOOD!. Photobucket
This young man inspires me because he takes something normal and flips it to make it his own. The British newcomer's designs graced the spring 2008 runways of Belstaff, Tommy Hilfiger, Basso & Brooke, Doo.Ri, and 3.1 Phillip Lim, all in his first season officially in the game. Kirkwood studied fine art at Central Saint Martins and shoe making at the esteemed Cordwainers cobbler program before starting his own shoe collection out of his home. His emphasis on construction makes his footwear rather recognizable, if not entirely democratic: “They're not for everybody,” Kirkwood said. Only the truly fashion-forward, which is fine with us." Here are some of his off the wall designs which I feel will be a lovely Christmas gift to myself.

Looking at these I know I'm not the only one drooling! As always I have a dream and it would be to own these "Star Wars" inspired shoes.

WHERE WOULD I GO IN THESE? WHO KNOWS! I do know that I would find a place just to stand still in them. I hope you shoe-aholics enjoyed this introduction into the future of fun and wearable fashion. Its like the Jetson's met Christian Louboutin and had a baby named Nicholas Kirkwood. I LOVE IT! Until next time....

WEARABLE ART!

Hello There SHOE-AHOLICS

I've just come to the conclusion that fashion is not only wearable pieces, its Art!. So today I am going to show you a few wearable art pieces in the form of shoes. First off art is defined as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in the visual form such as painting, or sculpture, producing works to be produced primarily for their beauty or their emotional power. With this said, all that, describes the shoes created by various underground designers. One person that I came across who was very interesting was a guy by the name of John Ashford. His designs consist of truly thought out art and has transformed them by painting them on shoes. Now anyone can paint on a shoe but this man's efforts are beyond belief wit such intricate detail I can clearly see why he's becoming very popular by the minute. Just look at some of his lovely designs.
